Our team of designers, directors and strategists…

  • Joanna Potter

    FOUNDER, CREATIVE DIRECTOR
”The play of design and type on the page still rocks my world, and I am an artist and writer at heart, but talking to people, learning about what makes them tick and smile, is a joy and energy boost. Hence why forging new relationships is now where I focus – and why each project receives an utterly personalised solution. Trinidad, tango dance, music and anything equestrian are all in my blood, whilst being a stand-up comedian is a secret desire…so try not to be too serious around me, or I might just tickle you.”

  • Darren Morris

    DESIGNER
”Every project is an opportunity for me to create something unique and thought-provoking, lead by a simple and effective idea. As a keen motorcyclist and ex-racer, I have a passion for anything mechanical, I draw from this DNA a more technical side in my creative and love to build on detail.”

  • Ayesha

    DESIGNER
”I have a particular interest in accessibility and design for change. I have worked on a number of campaigns, and for academic institutions, as well as a variety of sectors. With a background in languages – Arabic and Japanese – I love calligraphy and dancing… as well as pottering in my greenhouse.”

  • David Hanson

    DIGITAL SOLUTIONS
“I like nothing more than solving technical design problems. Today's world presents us with myriad ways to communicate our message. I make online aspects to a project all a bit easier for our clients to convey their message. I'm lucky to live in Devon near the coast, and after years of advertising agency work in London, love nothing more than an early paddle board and swim before work.”

  • Javier Garcia

    LEAD STRATEGIST
Javier is a strategist extraordinaire, having lead award-winning transformation projects for some of the world’s most influential brands and is a creative powerhouse in his own right.
”I am obsessive about the role of brand, human-centred design and technology. I believe the products we create should be cultural catalysts and drivers for better living.”

We encourage the world to
DESIGN BRAVE and CONNECT MORE
After all, we are way too colourful for vanilla…in design and personality.

“This is where I tell you how amazing our design services are, how passionate I am about the creative process, and how we can elevate your business and brand to greater heights… so, while all of that is true (hell, yes), I think it’s more interesting to hear about what the name is all about, and what brought me and my team here….well, that’s what I get asked about, and you’re probably bored of elevator pitches…”
– Joanna, founder, Studio Jouvay

What’s in a name – a quick story about Studio Jouvay

With Joanna (and Ayesha!) hailing from from Trinidad in the West Indies, so much about this rich, diverse culture influences the studio’s creativity, interaction with people, business and interests in and around our design work. J’ouvert, or Jouvay, is the origin of Trinidad carnival (from jour ouvert, French for ‘open day’), and the first day of the now famous festival. Formerly Consort Design, this new chapter celebrates that we are big on creativity and ‘going brave’ with this attitude to improve our clients’ outcomes.

Warning – we ‘fall in love’ with our clients

Business is about people and connection, so we engage with individuals, companies, projects and causes with which we resonate. We are big on client communication, whether in-person or online – this is crucial for the best outcomes. “ I can genuinely say we love collaborating with our clients. Whilst that may seem weird or sappy in a professional context, we are keen to promote the human side of business, because frankly this, and how to monetise, is what it’s all about. Life is about connection, so how we act within these connections is where the importance lies.” – Joanna

What we don’t do:

  • Unpaid creative pitches – this simply destroys small- to medium-size businesses.

  • Have a ‘prima donna’ approach – we’re here to create the best outcomes for your vision, egos aren’t helpful, but we don’t become simple instruction-takers (there’s always Fiverr for that). Trust must be mutual.

  • Rest on our laurels – We’ve been in this business quite a while, and admit that we’ve learned this the hard way…and we wouldn’t want you to make the same mistake.
